Over lunch with Kris Aquino and James Yap wherein they treated me and the client at Mandarin Oriental, the couple mentioned about their addiction over this American TV series entitle Prison Break. They just got back from the States promoting Kris’s movie “Sukob” together with Claudine and Raymart. They said that they can’t hardly wait for the next episodes of the series. Last week, I decided to watch the series since I find the lead star, Wentworth Miller, so hot. I was able to finish the series in two sittings, and mind you, it was almost sunrise when I get to finish 22 episodes of the first season. The series is so good, I am sorry, make that so great that I can’t hardly wait to watch the 2nd season, and dream about Wentworth Miller. I don’t mind sharing a prison cell with him and be with him in rescuing his brother Lincoln Burrows from River Fox Prison. The twist and turn of the story is so full of suspense that I was so addicted and had to finish it. I was fighting a bout of depression last week so I did nothing but lie in bed and watch Desperate Housewives as well, thank God I didn’t have Grey’s Anatomy and most likely, I would not able to get out of bed. Comparing local TV content with what the Americans as well as the British are churning out, I can’t help but cry, our local programming is so bad, although I watch Bakekang just for kicks, you know, pop culture, and I work in an industry wherein knowledge of local pop culture is needed. I had my cable removed two years ago so that I won’t be killing myself from watching TV until the wee hours of the morning. I was even hooked to chatting in Link TV, which was masquerading as a pick up joint on TV. I didn’t get lucky though, because just like the net, TV chatting could be dangerous. Who knows what type of people are lurking in their homes, maybe a serial killer or two. Been there and done that, I ain’t doing it again. I did finish on DVD this indie movie called “Friends With Money”, starring Jennifer Aniston, Joan Cusack, Frances McDermond and Catherine Keener. I could not help but relate with Jennifer’s character since I am relatively poor compared with my friends, and I admit that I am living well due to my rich friends’ generosity. I also saw “Dreamgirls” with Beyonce and introducing Jennifer Hudson, an A.I. alumni who lost to Fantasia. One thing is for sure, Ms. Hudson has won the Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actress In A Musical and to think this is her first screen outing, I can’t help but cheer for the girl come the Oscars. She is a perfect example of a loser that made good, and for Fantasia, the grand winner of A.I. season 3, where is she now? Now that A.I. season 5 has started last week, I have a new addiction to deal with, together with the rest, and A.I. is showing no signs of fatigue, as a matter of fact, the rating of the pilot telecast this season is so high that A.I. could be staying for the long run. Strange though, Philippine Idol didn’t register much in the local rating game, maybe the Philippines has too many singing contest and star search, now that’s what I call fatigue.
