How to turn 33 without the usual party? I had no choice but celebrate my birthday in the most unusual manner, and I admit I had so much fun. The day started by helping this person complete his pre-employment requirements so we were up and about as early as 8 in the morning. We went to SSS, renewed his NBI clearance in the mall and had his photo taken in a Foto Me booth. We were done by 11 am so we while the time singing in a karaoke booth in Timezone, and off he went to his future employer. Then I had lunch with my only remaining sibling, the other 2 passed away already. Afternoon was spent watching the UAAP, with UST winning against UE, and that sealed UST’s fate as the worthy opponent of Ateneo in the best-of-3 finals. I could not contain myself from shouting, never mind that I was seated to the hottest PBA players that are UST Tigers players in college. After the game, I rushed home to be with my BF, or rather make that my ex-BF. Yup! You read it right, I finally celebrated my birthday with someone special, after 33 looooong years, I was officially taken, hahaha! We just saw some movies on DVD and slept. When morning came, he had to leave for practice, and I had to leave him for good. I wept as I hug him to say goodbye, officially. After 4 years, I came to a sad realization that all the hard work of keeping the relationship was on my part. He kept me hooked up like a drug, and I wanted more, but just like expensive recreational drugs, I cannot longer sustain my lovelife. I knew that he was a straight man, a heterosexual basketball player that saw me as his saviour and I saw him as my saviour, from loneliness and boredom. Please see my previous post about him entitled “missing…”.
He gave me a birthday card, upon my asking, and after 50 times reading it over and over, I cannot find feelings from what was written, it goes something like this…”Despite all the trials and challenges in our relationship, we managed to be together for 4 years, thanks for being there for me, happy birthday!!! Love, Jun…”.
Now tell me, did I do the right thing? Will wait for your advice.
