Pick me..choose me...love me...marry somebody else...

Admit it, you are aware of every updates about showbiz personalities. You have watched shows maybe once, or maybe twice, not for the content but to see how the host will humiliate the innocent guests, without her knowing it, or maybe you decided to see a showbiz talkshow to know what will be latest showbiz updates that you will hear. You love reading blind items and try to guess the characters involved. The recent developments about this showbiz couple has taken the nation by storm, even Inquirer decided to put it on page 1 today, thus deeming it as of national importance. In a country wherein the 2 top stations, ch. 2 and 7, are slugging out on the rating games, the people involved in this issue are just pawns, victims of the food chain wherein the one on top stays at the top. A tit for tat, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and we as a viewing public gets transfixed in a real "telenovela" unfolding before our eyes. Everyone wants to be involved, from friends to the people watching in their living rooms. It is really a marriage, a marriage maintained by viewers to their TV sets, waiting for the twist and turn of events, a war between networks, war between two women battling it out for a man. It is an entertaining and yet tragic pastime, in a nation facing a myriad of problems ranging from inept officials, abusive military, and corrupt policitians. This is what we get for being "tsismosos", "uzis", "gaka", we don't want to be left out in the cold with regards to what is happening around us. The actions speak louder than words, for a couple battling out a storm, to face national TV seated side by side, without a single display of affection, devoid of any "united front", maybe is an admission of guilt, a little proof of storm brewing. This is showbiz, entertainment, Philippine-style, people talk about it on the streets, in the offices, in coffee shops. Watching the alleged mistress's interview in one channel, to be filled after with a TV commercial gap with protagonist or antagonist's endorsement (depending on which side are you on) for a product, telling a friend that her life is complete, is a glaring irony. Advertisers are aware of the celeb's selling power, and they are aware that the entire archipelago will be watching exclusive interviews with the supposed 3rd party, how appropriate and it really dictated the sense of decorum and left good manners somewhere else I will just go to the supermarket and buy whatever was advertised, to see if my life will be complete, nice copy though, congratulations to the copywriters of the ad, although it didn't pass the litmus test of an effective ad, timelessness. Footnote: The views and opinions of the hosts do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the network nor its management. Viewer discretion and parental guidance is advised.
